Wedding Photos IB English

Photos are quite important in the world of weddings and ceremonies. It´s not only a picture that shows the lucky couple, but a moment that will last forever in your heart (forever if you make sure to keep it on a safe place, maybe USB?). In “Expo tu Boda” I saw plenty of photographers with beautiful and elegant examples of their work, but I also notice that it is not only elegance couples are searching for. More than once I saw some really interesting pictures, couples in disguise, making fun of each other, swimming with their gowns on a pool, the groom in the floor while the bride is taking him from a foot, all of this and more, kind of been childish while at the same time been lovely and showing how much they actually love each other (while been as hilarious as possible). The photographers where vary, you could find some professionals that asked for pretty much half of what you are spending in the whole ceremony and party, while others where more discrete, although they have really beautiful examples of their pictures. I guess the name of the company really means a lot in this business of photo shoots. Some big shot I find on the convention (guiding with the big attention they had since their stand was full of people asking for prices) was Lazaro Casas Fotografo, Photografiarte, Oscar Treviño Fotografia and Estudio Guerra. I will leave here some examples of their work and the links to their home page. See you later!

Expo tu Boda IB English

Extravagant cakes, memorable pictures, lovely wedding gowns, colorful (and incredibly creative party supplies, exotic honeymoons and super fashion shoes for bride and groom was my last weekend in Cintermex with Expo tu Boda. This is a convention in which several wedding related stores get together and offer their service (with coupons or descuentos) to the couple. You make be asking what was I doing there? Easy. My mother and father collaborate with the church for a diploma that couples take before getting married to know each other better and don’t have any little “surprises” once they are wife and husband. Cintermex always gives them a little stand for them to add couples and give information, but this time my father wasn’t able to go and my mother didn’t want to go alone, so I took his place. I was amazing. The dresses, the people, I mean, the whole atmosphere was so joyful I’m guessing because a wedding is a really special moment in their lives. Anyways, I had the chance to walk around and see. It’s funny, because more than once someone asked me if I was old enough to get married, and like twice they asked me where was my fiancé (sorry, but I don’t even have a boyfriend). I learn plenty, for example, you have to at least have everything ready four months before, the cakes are the easiest to ask, although the price varies in so many ways, Pasteleria Lety was the most expensive and in their display they had simple cakes. There was one that was for 200 persons, white with three levels and a red candy rose on top, the price was around $5,000 pesos; I kept searching and I find a lovely cake, with more detail and three roses in each level, the price was $3,500. So here you can see what the name of the company can make with the prices but the whole deal is to know how to search and taste as many cake you can. I won’t be able to tell you everything I saw that weekend so next entry I will like to talk about some really funny and new innovations for the couples photo shoot and some other surprises. I will see you next time.

Wedding Cake IB English

Anyone is up for a slice of cake? Well, I do! So today I’m going to talk about wedding cakes tradition. Some traditions are long lost; an example was the groom eating part of a loaf of barley break baked and break the rest over his bride’s head. It was a symbolizing the groom’s power over his bride and the breaking of the bride’s virginal state. This tradition goes back as far as the Roman Empire. Cakes in Medieval England where breads with flour-based foods without sweet. And is no joke, there was no sweets for the happy couple. But in the late 19th century, cakes became popular; they were simple single-tired plum cakes with some variations.

Mostly, wedding cakes are always white, but this remounts to the making of ingredients. White icing required only the use of refined sugar and it was less expensive and easy to do. Also, the white icing has the symbolism the purity of the couple. In first appeared in Victorian times and another symbolism to the white cake is thanks to the reference of “the bride’s cake”, which highlighted the bride as the central figure of the wedding and a special bond between her and the cake (kind of silly, but still cute).

Cutting a slice of cake is all about symbolism.  The first task of the married couple is for the bride to cut a piece of cake with the help of her new husband. After cutting the first piece, the couple will feed one other; this means a mutual commitment of the newlyweds to provide for one another.

A tradition started in the late 19th century has continued now days, it consists of saving the top layer of a multitiered cake to freeze it and share it on their first wedding anniversary. It serves as a very pleasant reminder of what was like their very first special day together. I hope you enjoy this entry, I will see you next time.

Disney...... Honeymoon? IB English

Last blog I talked about Disney’s weddings which are a total delight and are what you expect from Disney’s staff, and even more, but today, I search in the net and found Disney Honeymoons. I know what you are thinking, isn’t Disney World (or Land) more like a family vacation that is more likely for kids? Well, it is indeed more likely for a family treat but lately they have manage to make a whole new experience for the newlywed to feel certainly, in love. And is no surprise, the most magical place in the world surely is able to make true all the dreams and hopes of those with a young heart.

More than just rollercoaster, amazing shows, they offer a variety of five star dining and luxurious spa treatments. In Disney World they have two specific hotels where newlyweds can stay, the Caribbean Beach Resort which isn’t expensive at all but it isn’t as comfortable as the other hotel Grand Floridian Hotel, the most expensive place to stay in the complex which has a view, a Jacuzzi tub and other features that are grand for a couple. To renew the woo and have the whole meaning of been a princess in Disney, you can have a carriage ride along the river at the Port Orleans resort. To have a more adventurous time, you can go to the Kilimanjaro Safari ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but if the couple is more in the mood of some sophistication, Downtown Disney is the best choice. Nightclubs, shows, specially the Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba are recommended (but it’s important to plan and purchase your entertainment before it’s sold out). Something really special and charming about spending the honeymoon here is that the resort gives you a newlywed button which tells the Disney employees to lavish you with a attention and compliments, so you don’t get enough of it. Hope you guys liked the blog. See you next time.

Disney...... Wedding? IB English

Today I’m making an exception and I´m going to talk about the ceremony, in short, the wedding. I will like to start first with an anecdote of mine. Last time, I was wandering around on Tumblr, a social network, and I bump to a very pretty picture, here it is:

And on the tags I read it said Disney Land, the one that is in California. I was thrilled, I didn’t know you could have weddings in Disney Land, so I did a little search and I found out it wasn’t only Disneyland but also, Disney World, Disney Cruise Line and Disney Hawaii! This incredible beautiful weddings, as beautiful and magical they can be are pretty expensive. An intimate Disney wedding for two begins at $3,000 and includes resort accommodations, a ceremony and admission to the attractions. If you want up to 20 guests is around $8,000 and weddings where you want to invite as many guests as you want are around $19,000 to $25,000. For the wedding you have to choose a Disney theme; options are Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and many more (depending on the park). I read that if you choose Cinderella, the bride arrives in a glass carriage with pretty white ponies and dessert is been served in a white chocolate glass slipper.
I know that mostly all my readers are pretty young to even think about marriage but in, I don’t, know, 10 years maybe?, you can consider the parks as an option. If you are young at heart and are truly in love with Disney (and your boyfriend or girlfriend) don’t doubt on relaying with Disney’s help for a wonderful one of a kind wedding celebration, I know I won´t.

Marriage Proposals IB english

Marriage Proposals have been, technically, new in society since asking for the hand of a woman in marriage wasn’t really a custom in the past, it was more likely to either kidnap the bride or pay a quantity to the family. The traditional way of proposing is for the man to bend in a knee and show an engagement ring to his future wife; but, as everything does, it has had some modifications through the passing of time. It isn’t as conventional as it was before. Now even woman can ask for marriage (although in America isn’t as common as in Europe) and there’s way more creative, funny, romantic, elaborated or pretty simple ways to ask for someone to spend their whole life together. But you know what? We have someone to blame about this explosion of creative proposals and is all thanks to dear old Hollywood with his romantic movies. All that goofy, clumsy and so lame (who am I kidding? I love them!) typical romantic movies where the ending are so predictable (a simple cliché with the same story) where the two love birds get marry DO have some good advice and ideas for marriage proposals.
Today I feel like making this blog more of a visual and auditory learning; I will like you, my dearest followers to see some of my favorite wedding proposals in movies and the ones that I believe deserve some credit for been pretty imaginative and original. I will like you to share your thoughts and feelings, which one for you is the best? Which one you dislike? And be free to add more movies proposals that aren’t in the list. The scenes are from movies like the Wedding Singer, Rocky 2, Meet the Parents, The Proposal, Leap Year, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Hope you guys like it!
