Disney...... Honeymoon? IB English

Last blog I talked about Disney’s weddings which are a total delight and are what you expect from Disney’s staff, and even more, but today, I search in the net and found Disney Honeymoons. I know what you are thinking, isn’t Disney World (or Land) more like a family vacation that is more likely for kids? Well, it is indeed more likely for a family treat but lately they have manage to make a whole new experience for the newlywed to feel certainly, in love. And is no surprise, the most magical place in the world surely is able to make true all the dreams and hopes of those with a young heart.

More than just rollercoaster, amazing shows, they offer a variety of five star dining and luxurious spa treatments. In Disney World they have two specific hotels where newlyweds can stay, the Caribbean Beach Resort which isn’t expensive at all but it isn’t as comfortable as the other hotel Grand Floridian Hotel, the most expensive place to stay in the complex which has a view, a Jacuzzi tub and other features that are grand for a couple. To renew the woo and have the whole meaning of been a princess in Disney, you can have a carriage ride along the river at the Port Orleans resort. To have a more adventurous time, you can go to the Kilimanjaro Safari ride at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, but if the couple is more in the mood of some sophistication, Downtown Disney is the best choice. Nightclubs, shows, specially the Cirque du Soleil’s La Nouba are recommended (but it’s important to plan and purchase your entertainment before it’s sold out). Something really special and charming about spending the honeymoon here is that the resort gives you a newlywed button which tells the Disney employees to lavish you with a attention and compliments, so you don’t get enough of it. Hope you guys liked the blog. See you next time.

Disney...... Wedding? IB English

Today I’m making an exception and I´m going to talk about the ceremony, in short, the wedding. I will like to start first with an anecdote of mine. Last time, I was wandering around on Tumblr, a social network, and I bump to a very pretty picture, here it is:

And on the tags I read it said Disney Land, the one that is in California. I was thrilled, I didn’t know you could have weddings in Disney Land, so I did a little search and I found out it wasn’t only Disneyland but also, Disney World, Disney Cruise Line and Disney Hawaii! This incredible beautiful weddings, as beautiful and magical they can be are pretty expensive. An intimate Disney wedding for two begins at $3,000 and includes resort accommodations, a ceremony and admission to the attractions. If you want up to 20 guests is around $8,000 and weddings where you want to invite as many guests as you want are around $19,000 to $25,000. For the wedding you have to choose a Disney theme; options are Cinderella, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and many more (depending on the park). I read that if you choose Cinderella, the bride arrives in a glass carriage with pretty white ponies and dessert is been served in a white chocolate glass slipper.
I know that mostly all my readers are pretty young to even think about marriage but in, I don’t, know, 10 years maybe?, you can consider the parks as an option. If you are young at heart and are truly in love with Disney (and your boyfriend or girlfriend) don’t doubt on relaying with Disney’s help for a wonderful one of a kind wedding celebration, I know I won´t.

Marriage Proposals IB english

Marriage Proposals have been, technically, new in society since asking for the hand of a woman in marriage wasn’t really a custom in the past, it was more likely to either kidnap the bride or pay a quantity to the family. The traditional way of proposing is for the man to bend in a knee and show an engagement ring to his future wife; but, as everything does, it has had some modifications through the passing of time. It isn’t as conventional as it was before. Now even woman can ask for marriage (although in America isn’t as common as in Europe) and there’s way more creative, funny, romantic, elaborated or pretty simple ways to ask for someone to spend their whole life together. But you know what? We have someone to blame about this explosion of creative proposals and is all thanks to dear old Hollywood with his romantic movies. All that goofy, clumsy and so lame (who am I kidding? I love them!) typical romantic movies where the ending are so predictable (a simple cliché with the same story) where the two love birds get marry DO have some good advice and ideas for marriage proposals.
Today I feel like making this blog more of a visual and auditory learning; I will like you, my dearest followers to see some of my favorite wedding proposals in movies and the ones that I believe deserve some credit for been pretty imaginative and original. I will like you to share your thoughts and feelings, which one for you is the best? Which one you dislike? And be free to add more movies proposals that aren’t in the list. The scenes are from movies like the Wedding Singer, Rocky 2, Meet the Parents, The Proposal, Leap Year, Rocky Horror Picture Show and Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Hope you guys like it!

Marriage Traditions in Asia IB English

"Married couples who love each other tell each other a thousand things without talking." (Chinese proverb). The continent of Asia, full of long lost history, battles, honor, but over all, mystery in its colorful culture and traditions that lights the spark of wonder and excitement. Today, my dear followers, it’s special, I will talk about marriage traditions in the continent of Asia, come together and learn with me some of the different costumes this people share in the most special day of their lives with the same basic concept, the union of two hearts into one forever in love.

Let’s start first of with the beautiful island of Japan. Japanese weddings are either Shinto or Buddhist. The Shinto weddings have a tradition of the rice wine, a couple drinks three times in front of a priest and it means that they promise to be dedicated to each other for life. Also, for Japanese the color purple symbolizes love and usually brides use kimonos covered with purple iris flowers; by the way a kimono is a Japanese traditional garment.

Koreans have a very peculiar way of celebrating weddings; it’s like having to weddings at the same day (with the same person, of course). First of all they a fortune-teller to looks into their future as a couple and see if there would be prosperity and love. At the wedding, they share a western like ceremony, with a white-short dress for the woman and a black suit for the man; after finishing the ceremony, they change into traditional Korean cloths and bow to their respective families which gives Jujube and nuts. This means a happy marriage and to have children.

In Indonesia, the bride and the groom get their lips dry by greeting each and every guest they invite to the wedding before the festivities can begin. Also, the brides will get a holy shower with water and flowers by the mother or a woman close to her before the ceremony.

The Chinese’s traditions where the ones that got my attention the most due to their symbolism and surprisingly by the good humor. During the festivities, an apple is held with a thread ahead of the couple; the guests asks for them to give a bit at the same time but when their lips touches the apple someone pulls the thread and they share a kiss. The gown of the bride are adorned by golden phoenixes, chrysanthemums and peonies, the color is bright red, which in China symbolizes good fortune and joy, happiness in its entire splendor. Firecrackers (which I personally adore) are always to be seen in Chinese weddings to scare off evil spirits.

This were some of my favorite traditions, there are even more and maybe in the next entry I will share some more with you. I will leave you with a question; which tradition did you find the most romantic, hilarious, or interesting? “See you” next time. With love, Anie.
